Milton Glaser

It’s easy to see why Milton Glaser was the first Graphic Designer to receive the National Medal of Arts from none other than President Obama after a prolific career in creating many recognisable designs such as the I heart NY logo and his famous psychedelic Bob Dylan poster. Milton graduated from Cooper Union NYC and also studied at Accademia di Belle Arti Bologna. He co-founded Push Pin Studios in 1954 and in 1983 was part of the duo that started WMBG in NYC. encyclopaedia britannica. 2016. Milton Glaser. Chip Kidd

Another designer whose work is instantly recognisable is current Associate of Art Director at Knopf - Chip Kidd. Kidd’s introduction to Graphic design was through his facination of American pop culture and love of comics growing up. Chip Kidd graduated from Penn State University in 1986 and went on to design some of the most famous book covers ever such as the iconic dinosaur skeleton print on the cover of ‘Jurassic Park’ by Michael Crichton. Peter Saville

Known for his work with iconic album covers for iconic bands such as Joy Division and New Order, Manchester born Peter Saville’s use of pattern, colour and shapes is wonderful. Saville attended Manchester Polytechnic in the 70s and after an illustrious career creating memorable album covers at Factory Records - for example the clever use of a repeating pulsar reading to create a unique pattern for “Unknown Pleasures” album - Saville went on to become a design consultant for famous brands such as Selfridges, EMI and Pringle and also garnered quite a list of fashion clients.
